I. CONFERENCE

VENUES AND SCHEDULE

The conference will be held in three different venues on 30 and 31 October. 

The Official Opening of the conference will be organised in the Palace of Youth Creativity on Wednesday, 30 October, at 9:30 – 13:00. 

The rest of the programme on 30 and 31 October will be organised in the Nordic International University, campus 2. 

The Closing Event on Thursday, 31 October, at 19:00 – 22:00 will be organised in Tashkent Museum under the State History Museum of Uzbekistan at the National Park of Uzbekistan. 

The Cultural Programme will be organised in outside of the Tashkent Museum before the Closing Event.

FORMAT

This is an in-person event.


ACCREDITATION

Participants have completed their registration online. The accreditation will take place on Wednesday, from 8:00-9:30, in the Palace of Youth Creativity.

N.B.: Access to all Conference premises will be possible only with visible conference badges issued by the Conference organisers.


WORKING LANGUAGES AND INTERPRETATION

The working languages of the Conference will be English and Russian. We kindly ask youthat all interventions during the Conference are made in one of these languages.Simultaneous interpretation will be provided to English and Russian for the Official Opening(Opening speeches, High-Level Panel, and Session I on EU Central Asia cooperation) onWednesday, 30 October. Interpretation into Russian will be provided on demand for SessionII on Wednesday, 30 October, as well as for the Concluding Session and Open mic onThursday, 31 October, which will be held in English.The workshops will be held in either English or Russian, as indicated in their description, withthe exception of Workshop IV, on October 30, where consecutive interpretation English –Russian – English will be made available on demand.


FOOD

Catering will be provided by the organisers on 30 and 31 October. Buffet lunch will be servedin the Nordic International University on both conference days.A buffet dinner on 30 October will be organised in the Nordic International University.A buffet dinner will be organised as part of the closing event in the Tashkent Museum on 31 October.


MEDIA

Please note that photographs and footage will be taken throughout the conference. Materialswill be used by the Office of the EU Special Representative for Central Asia and its partners,the Nordic International University, the Youth Affairs Agency, and UZReportTV, forpublicity purposes, on their websites and in social media or in any third party publication.If you do not wish to appear in these materials, please contact the logistics focal point listed below.

Telecommunication and roaming costs will not be covered for participants of the conference.Wi-Fi Access will be made available at the conference venues.

WEATHER

Autumn in Uzbekistan is generally mild. Average temperatures in Tashkent are expected torange from around +15°C to +18°C during daytime, while it can drop to about +5°C to +8°Cduring night-time. It is advisable for visitors to check the latest weather forecast before theirtrip and to pack accordingly. A warm jacket, a light sweater, and a raincoat are recommended for the cooler evenings and potential rainfall.

Cultural Heritage:

Tashkent was named a "cultural capital of the Islamic world" in 2007, highlighting its rich history and numerous significant Islamic sites, including historic mosques andthe Islamic University.


Home of the Uthman Qur'an:

The Telyashayakh Mosque (Khast Imam Mosque) in Tashkent contains the Uthman Qur'an,the oldest extant copy of the Qur'an in the world, dating back to 655 AD and associated withthe blood of the murdered caliph Uthman.
