Workshops will serve as a crucial component of the Conference. Through them, we aim to foster interactive learning by allowing participants to engage in hands-on activities. This environment will also promote networking opportunities, enabling attendees to build professional relationships that can lead to future collaborations.
Furthermore, the workshops will focus on specific themes or skills, providing tailored content that addresses the needs and interests of participants, there by increasing the overall value of the conference experience.
We hope to create a dynamic atmosphere that encourages innovation and the exchange of ideas, ultimately enriching the professional development of all attendees, as well as developing ideas and approaches on sustainable water action.
There will be four different Workshops throughout the Conference:
1.“Youth as Drivers for New Perspectives on Water Governance and Diplomacy” consists of an interactive discussion and group work aimed to enhance the understanding that the complex systems encountered in water management and diplomacy might cause challenges, but also present opportunities to approach questions from a broad theoretical and societal base. Facilitated by Mr Márton Krasznai, Scientific Director at the Centre for Central Asia Research at Corvinus University Budapest (Hungary) and Mr Iskandar Abdullaev, country Representative for Pakistan Office at the International Water Management Institute.
2.“Conflict analysis as a tool for water diplomacy” aims to introduce participants to the fundamentals of water diplomacy and conflict analysis througha practical case study. Facilitated by Dr Emma Hakala, Leading Researcher at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
3.“BIOM Ecological movement on social innovation” aims to buildup understanding of the consequences of climate change and sustainable water management. Participants will have an opportunity to be researchers themselves, using innovative analysis methods and the concepts of citizen science. Facilitated by Ms Alfiya Nasyrova, Senior Researcher at the Kyrgyz Academy of Education and Mr Nursultan Turdubekov, Consultant at the Ecological Movement BIOM (Konrad Adenauer Foundation Monitoring for Justice).
4. International Water Management Institute will hold Open Event, consisting of two parts and a Field trip
The “Water Sofa” is a unique and informal interview setup, in which a young journalist expert will lead the conversation with high-level EU and local political leaders and water experts. The conversation will touch upon water-saving practices, the roles of governments and industries, and the importance of international cooperation in addressing water scarcity. The “World Café” is a structured conversational process designed to foster collaborative dialogue and the sharing of knowledge. Experts from the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) will interactively present key water-saving practices.
